solaRate provides Section J assessments for all commercial components of Multi-residential developments.

Section J Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) Compliance Reports

Are required for commercial buildings (Class 2 to 9) as part of the Development Application process in order to demonstrate the ability of the design to comply with the National Construction Code (NCC). Compliance requirements apply to all new and extensions of commercial buildings.

The objective of Part J is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by efficiently using energy.

Part J specifically addresses the operational energy efficiency of a commercial building.  It addresses specific standards to be achieved for:

  • Insulation
  • Glazing performance
  • Building Sealing
  • Air-conditioning and ventilation performance
  • Artificial lighting and power performance
  • Access to plant for maintenance

Part J Reports do not take into account any aspects of water sensitive design, material selection, waste, recycling, indoor environment quality or the impact of the building project on the natural environment.
